Ghost Fleet of Mallows Bay (DJI MINI2)
Took a little drive to Mallows Bay and shot some video. This little bay off of the Potomac river is packed full of old ships from WWI. They have all mostly rotted away over time but their outlines still remain in the bay. The big ship still above water is an old ferry that used to make runs across the river. There is lots of cool history in this place. I will definitely be returning to do more exploring. Please Subscribe to the channel for more drone exploration videos!

The History Guy: History Deserves to Be Remembered
The Ghost Fleet of Mallows Bay
On the Maryland side of the Potomac river in Charles County, Maryland, there is a shallow bay tucked between Sandy and Liverpool point. Partially hidden in the muck and largely submerged, this unassuming bay holds a unique secret: the “largest shipwreck fleet in the Western Hemisphere." The History Guy remembers the Ghost Fleet of Mallows Bay. Guarding the treasured ghost fleet of Mallows Bay
The US hasn't designated a marine sanctuary in 15 years but an area just an hour south of Washington is up for consideration. Environmentalists and historians alike think the hundred-year-old shipwrecks lying in Mallows Bay merit the designation.

Kayaking the Mallows Bay Ghost Fleet (Ship Graveyard)
Kayaking Mallows Bay Abandoned Ship Graveyard. Mallows Bay — recently designated as a marine sanctuary — is a former dumping ground for over 200 shipwrecks dating back to the civil war. In the 1920's many of these were whole ships but have been reduced to skeletons over time. It is best to visit around low tide as more of the ship frames will be visible. These wrecked ships are home to osprey and hornets. Be careful of the hornets when paddling close to the ships. If the ospreys have chicks in the nest the park service may ask you not to come too close. Mallows Bay is located in Nanjemoy, MD. #abandoned #mallowsbay #ghostfleet

Ghost Ships of the Potomac - Mallows Bay, Maryland
Ghost Ships of the Potomac in Mallows Bay, Maryland. If you are interested in weird, strange, and cool places in Maryland, grab yourself a kayak and head to Mallows Bay in Nanjemoy, MD to see the Ghost Fleet of the Potomac. There a quite a few abandoned ships here, but most of them were from WWI. The only ship fully above water is the abandoned Accomac car ferry left here since 1973. Just this year (2019) the bay was designated as a National Marine Sanctuary. The decaying wooden ships have turned the area from a ship graveyard to an ecosystem for fish and animal. ____________________________________________ Our Social Media Links...
